The Tuxedo Historical Society

Our Mission

We foster awareness of the community's heritage by collecting, preserving and exhibiting materials and presenting programs that document life, past and present, in the Town of Tuxedo and its communities. Our goals are to find ways to stir up interest in the community, increase our membership and funding, and keep the community involved and informed.

The Tuxedo Historical Society is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization formed in 1982 and located in the former historic Tuxedo National Bank Building, Tuxedo Park, NY 10987.

Blairhame- a treasured gift to Tuxedo Park School

Presentation by former Headmaster Jim Burger

Completed in 1915, for J. Insley Blair and his wife Natalie Knowlton, this 65-room and 20 bathroom mansion was designed by Carrère & Hastings. The attic floor of their mansion was divided into private "museum rooms" given over to their spectacular collection of art and Americana, much of which was donated in 1939 to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other museums. Thanks to being donated by daughter, Joan Blair Overton, Blairhame has been home to the Tuxedo Park School since 1957.
